A better version of myself

Have you ever been in the company of someone that makes you feel like a better version of yourself? Where you feel truly worthy of their company like every word is absorbed and listened to whilst you drink in every last word they say too? That your common interests or opposing views are valued equally and you leave their company feeling exhilarated and empowered?

More often than not, we actually find ourselves dragged down by negativity, left feeling unheard, undervalued and uninteresting. Consumed by the day-to-day grind, by exhaustion and anger, unable to focus on our mind, our inner passions and our yearning for more.

Tonight, I met up with a wonderful group of women all thanks to Instagram. Many of which I have only met once or twice but bonded instantly, some who have progressed to “gym buddy” status (well, almost – you know who you are!) and others I had never met at all, but felt like I’d known them for year’s by the time the night came to an end! The positive energy that spreads across the room when surrounded by them is incomparable and indescribable.

I genuinely feel like a better version of myself when I am around them like I suddenly see all my achievements, I engage my passions, I smile from the inside out and I release all tensions and falsities. I don’t need to TRY around them, which for me is a huge weight lifted from constantly trying to be more interesting than I think I am.

They make me want to do more of what makes me happy, to strive to do what inspires me and that all the little things I do really do matter and make a big difference to people’s lives. They do all this, without even saying a thing. with just their presence, their good nature, their humour, their sense of well-being and genuine raw human nature (and maybe a bit of yoga, hiking or cycling too!). Not everyone is lucky enough to have this in their lives and I feel very blessed to have stumbled across it.

Thank you, SJ and Instagram  xx
